Thinking I missed something........

It's been forever since I posted anything here! Felt compelled to share this.....

A thought crossed my mind the other day: how many things would we miss out on if life always went the way we wanted it to?

I started thinking about this because I was reminded that even though I had planned on being in Africa for the last month and a half, and those plans fell through the roof, that I had spent this time investing in the important relationships in my life:

-went to the zoo with Rachelle and Angela
-spent time with Sara at the lake and various other locations before she left for China
-met with Mary for lunch after her cruise to Hawaii
-went to the youth talent show at church
-met with Wendy and John for coffee at their house to catch up
-went to movie with Rachelle
-went to Sundre with Jess to buy her horse and had an unexpected road adventure!
-had lunch with Ashleigh
-shaved my cousin's head without reading the instructions on the razor beforehand (which was really funny)!
-went out to lunch with my cousin and brother twice now
-my cousin taught me how to fish at the lake
-had Lauren and Corey over for dinner

I also wondered how many of these events would have resulted if I had been absent from the picture like I had originally planned on. Maybe all of them?

I now have a new outlook on a common verse:

"For I know the plans I have for you" says the LORD."They are plans for good and not for disaster; to give you a future and hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you," says the Lord.
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

Nothing we do or go through is meaningless!

What's new!

So I must apologize to my faithful viewers; I have been so busy with camp the last couple of weeks that I haven't been able to get to the computer!

WOW, I'm home now after being at Evergreen for 10 weeks! It went by so fast!

I was in a cabin the week after my last post, with girls ages 13-15 during interteen week. I was with 2 other counselors because three of the girls were from a foster home and program staff wanted to make sure everything went ok with them. By the end of the week I think they really enjoyed themselves. I know I had a good time with them!

The next week I was leading another 2 week long AIM group called Discipleship Work Experience (DWE). We had a total of 2 girls and 2 guys for this program which was much smaller than the CIT group. We did work projects around camp like moving poles and putting up fences, as well as painting the Sundre Rodeo bleechers grey. We got into the rodeo for free on the following Saturday because of our hard work. It was alot of fun to watch the pony chuckwagon races and bull riding. We also moved a local family into their new house during that week too. I didn't how much I was able to really help them being the not so large and muscular person that I am, but they needed someone top clean their horse tack (saddles, bridles and stuff), so I jumped at the chance to help out with that. They also fed us lunch. It was cool to spend time with people from outside the camp!My group and the WTP's (wrangler training program) had the privilege of watching a horse being broken. It was really encouraging for me to watch Rick, a professsonal, do this because it affirmed all of the work that me and Jess have done with our two horses.

The week before I left was teen week. I had no idea what to expect from this week cuz I haven't had alot of experience working with teens. They put the younger girls in my cabin (13-14 year olds). We had alot of fun together playing late night games like Mission Impossible around camp, and watching movies, and coffee house and worship services and this event called Homemade Jam which is a bunch of hilarious skits. It was a BLAST!! i loved every moment of teen week!

I'm home now and definitely not really wanting to be here. But God told me to finish school before I committ to a year at camp. Please pray for me as I try to readjust to life in the city. I have had alot of things thrown at me by the evil one since I got home. Blessings my brothers and sisters in Christ!

WOW!

I survived my first week of camp counselling. I had 7 girls all  8-10 years old, whose names started with A or S. One had to go to the hospital cuz her leg was swollen from a mosquito bite, and another one threw up all over the cabin.

I lost my toothbrush but found it again after I bought a new one. I also went to Red Deer on the weekend. We went to Pizza Hut and had 15 people at one table. We broke curfew and got back at 130 am!

I went on another trail ride or two and that was also fun.

This week I'm in a cabin again with Another Meghan with 7 girls, all 11 years old.

I hope everyone is well. Miss you all. Blessings, YSIC

New Things!

So this last week has been awesome!! Jess, I worked with Bennet on Tuesday and it went alright. But then on Wednesday I decided to take a chance and I took him on a 2 hour trail ride with 17 other horses!! He was SOOO Good! We crossed the creek 2 times and he followed the horses and listened really well! It made my day.

Later that night we played MI (mission impossible with the campers in the dark with loud music and flashlights. Also a little girl named Eldana told me that she thought I was beautiful. So we exchanged addresses and I'm planning to write to her later on.

Yesterday we played games on horseback and Bennet was very well behaved. I think he even enjoyed chasing other horses around and he even cantered for me twice!! We also played around the world where the rider does a 360 position change on the horse. That aslo went well! I was so proud of him for interacting so well with the other horses!!

Today I won my first game of Settlers, with both the longest road and the largest army. It was cool too! We also chased 2 llamas around this very large field in an attempt to bring them back up to the barn. The CIT's and WTP"S (wrangler training program) did it!! They caught them in reasonable time too!

So I'm moving my stuff for the third time in the last 2 weeks!! Into Cabin 3, I go with one of the CIT's, Janine to counsel juniors-8-12 year olds this week! So this is very exciting for me!!

I miss everyone a lot! Please pray for sleep and strength this week with the campers. My emotions seem to sway lately too when Matthew crosses my mind, so pray that I can continue to mourn and not get too worn out.

Also please pray for my friend Aaron here at camp. He's 16, from Thompson Manitoba and he has really bad Colitis already. His pain killers cause him to vomit and he can only drink specific filtered water. Please pray daily that God will give him the strength that he needs and that his colitis will not flare up.

Thank-you all for all your prayers! They mean sooo much to me!

Blessings my friends! Megan

Ummmm......Not sure what I"m doing!!

So my CIT's (counselors in training) arrived yesterday morning; 8 girls and 7 guys all between 15-17 years of age. We got them settled and played LOTS of card games!! We went for a walk by the creek and had a worship time in the evening. Two of the guys, Colin and Kyle play the guitar, so it was an awesome time. WE also had a devotional time afterwards.

Please pray that I will be able to involve all of myself in these kids cuz I'm a lil hesitant right now because this is new for me (working with older kids). Iknow that God will give me the patience and the strength  and openness that I need!
